Definitely worth a visit is the Clyde Hydro-Scheme. 15 minutes down the road toward the Clyde township is the massive Clyde Dam.
Clyde Dam is an impressive example of both natures’ awesome power and mans’ engineering ability. It was the activation of the Clyde Dam that flooded the Clutha River creating Lake Dunstan and rendering part of ‘Old’ Cromwell to be forever underwater.
There are great look-outs at the dam site providing several impressive vantage points so bring your camera to take advantage of this amazing feat of engineering.
